Synex Business Performance is making its international debut by becoming the majority shareholder of FMA Group in France

5 March 2026

Québec, March 5, 2026 – Synex Business Performance is proud to announce the strategic acquisition of FMA Group, a recognized player in the insurance brokerage industry in France. This acquisition positions the Synex group as the first Canadian group of independent insurance brokerage firms to officially expand its operations into France, further strengthening its ambition to become a key player on the international stage.

With its strong expertise and well established presence in France, FMA Group stands out through the quality of its advisory services, its deep knowledge of the European market, and its ability to support businesses in both property and casualty insurance as well as life and health insurance. This partnership represents an important strategic lever to support Synex’s growth across the continent.

Canada remains at the core of Synex’s growth strategy. However, the integration of FMA Group provides the opportunity to support Canadian clients in their European expansion. By partnering with a firmly established organization, Synex takes a significant step forward in France and benefits from a local presence that will accelerate the development of its European activities.

This acquisition follows the arrival of La Caisse and Ares in Synex’s shareholding structure nearly a year ago, a key milestone in the company’s international expansion strategy.

Yan Charbonneau, President and Chief Vision Officer at Synex Business Performance: “This alliance with FMA Group reaffirms our commitment to accelerating our international growth. Beyond strategy, it is first and foremost a meeting between teams and talents who share the same ambition. We are proud to welcome nearly 200 new employees to Synex. Together, we are building a strong bridge between Canada and France, laying the foundation for a future in which Synex will be a key brokerage player on the global stage, driven by the strength and dedication of our people.”

Ludovic Dumont, President of FMA Group: “I am delighted at the idea of writing a new chapter for the Group alongside Synex Business Performance and Yan Charbonneau’s teams. We share the same values and the same strategic vision. With the support of Synex Business Performance, FMA Group is now entering a pan European development approach, aiming both to build on its existing agreements and to seize new opportunities.”
